THE ‘GIFT OF CONDEMNATION’

How come we Christians are gutless and fail when it comes to obeying Scripture by rebuking a brother or sister for fornication, divorce, living together, drunkenness, or other sins that will condemn them to hell,

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
I Corinthians 5:11  The BIBLE

19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
James 5:19-20  The BIBLE

– but we’re quite ready to exercise the ‘Gift of Condemnation’ or even proffer the ‘Right Boot of Fellowship,’ and rebuke or even just correct them for little, almost insignificant mistakes in doctrine, worship and practice, for mispronunciation of Biblical words or terms, or for not knowing concepts or Christian books and authors which we consider to be of interest – not one of which is of much real consequence at all?  How come Christians are KNOWN BY THE WORLD, for exercising this arrogant ‘Gift of Condemnation?’

9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
Titus 3:9  The BIBLE

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Matthew 23:23-24  The BIBLE

Brothers involved in sin are the only ones who should have to be nervous about what they do or say in the company of other believers.  Others shouldn’t have to perpetually, “watch what they say,” to avoid being corrected, good-naturedly or otherwise, by the uptight pettiness of others, straining at gnats, which only exalts themselves, makes others nervous, and limits fellowship.  That doesn’t reflect Christ.

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
Romans 14:17-19  The BIBLE

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another.
John 13:34-35  The BIBLE
