TRAGICALLY, “CHURCHES,” AREN’T ABOUT FOLLOWING THE WORD OF GOD

Tragically, “churches,” aren’t about following the Word of God. They are mere social gatherings of friends. If something they believe or practice together coincidentally happens to be similar to something mentioned in the Bible, they happily claim that fact as evidence that their, “church,” is Biblically-based. Otherwise, their doctrines and practices are merely what have been formulated and agreed upon by the group, regardless of the Word of God. For this reason a new person wishing to join that, “church,” cannot assume that the group will believe and follow the Bible that he reads everyday in his devotions. Rather, in order to be accepted by the group, he is thrust into the position of having to discover which Biblical practices and doctrines this group accepts or rejects, and to more-or-less align himself with those while in the company of this, “church.” And his relationship with God is relegated to something more personal than corporate, something he must follow individually at home and on the street, rather than what’s followed by those in the, “church,” around him on Sunday.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16 As also in all his Epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
